Register for a Workshop
[SOLD OUT] A Bring-Your-Own-Tree workshop with guest artist Sergio Cuan will be offered to PBA members on Saturday, May 11 from 11-4. Seats will be limited and registration is first come, first served. Also plan to check out the other events with Sergio including tree critiques and demonstrations.
Show Your Tree
Represent your PBA club by showing your tree at the National Bonsai & Penjing Museum! Contact your club leadership to find out how to submit your tree for the PBA members’ show. Trees on stands are preferred, but this display will be on tables around the courtyard, exposed to the elements, so only rustic or weather-resistant stands should be used if available. Selected trees must be delivered to and picked up from the National Bonsai & Penjing Museum according to the schedule below. Please note – early pickup is not permitted. This is a national museum and we must align with museum standards by waiting until closing time (4 p.m.) to take down the show. Work with other club members if you need help with scheduling delivery or pickup.
DELIVER: Thursday, May 9, 1-4 p.m. or Friday, May 10 at 9 a.m.
PICK UP: 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 12. By previous arrangement, trees can be moved out of the display area by the clean up crew and picked up the following day between 10 a.m. and noon.
Present a Formal Display
The display wing in the National Bonsai & Penjing Museum will be filled with formal tokanoma displays. Contact your club President or PBA board member if you’d like to reserve a spot for a formal display. You don’t even need to have every element of your display to participate. PBA members installing displays collaborate to share accents and stands to make every display the best it can be.
DELIVER: Thursday, May 9, 1-4 p.m. or Friday, May 10 at 9 a.m.
INSTALL: Friday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
PICK UP: 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 19. By previous arrangement, trees can be moved out of the display area by the clean up crew and picked up the following day between 10 a.m. and noon.
Volunteer
You don’t need to have special skills to volunteer. With the exception of the beginner’s workshop teacher (where you should feel comfortable guiding a beginner to style a tree), you can sign up for any volunteer job and show up with little or no prior knowledge. We just need some PBA members who are willing to help, and we are happy to show you what you need to do. A link to the volunteer sign up sheet will be distributed to PBA clubs. Contact your club leadership or a member of the PBA board to sign up to help.
Sell Bonsai Items at the PBA Sales Table
PBA members may sell bonsai, pre-bonsai, pots, tools, and other bonsai related materials at the PBA Sales Table. You set the sales price and PBA will keep 20%. Complete the PBA Seller Registration Form and bring it with your items as early as possible in the festival so visitors have time to find and buy your items.
