PBA Display Challenge (must be a PBA club member to enter)

At the 2018 PBA Summer Festival we will again hold a display challenge in the Display Wing of the National Bonsai and Penjing Museum to show off member trees in formal displays. We encourage people to present their best trees in traditional or creative displays that may include between 1 and 3 components (shohin stands with multiple trees count as a single component).

The display area is roughly three feet deep, and spaces of 4’ or 6’ wide will be available depending on the size of the trees/components. Space is first come first served, so please sign up early by contacting Alex Voorhies (

If you have an idea for a display that would require more space please contact Alex to discuss. Each display must include at least one tree, and all components should have a stand (except scrolls). The displays will be evaluated based on tree quality and display composition by a panel of jurors, and a prize of $200 will be awarded to the winning composition.

This is a great opportunity to see your trees shown in a formal display setting, and we encourage all PBA members to submit a display!

The PBA Store! (must be a PBA club member to sell)

Attention PBA club members - Do you have a few bonsai or bonsai related items laying around that you want to sell? PBA would like to invite its membership the opportunity to sell bonsai items at this years festival.

For the first time ever PBA will have a sales area at the festival this year. Several tables will be made available for PBA members to bring up to 5 items for sale. The sale will be conducted similar to our previously held auctions where items are processed and given an item number to keep track of everything. 10% of final sale proceeds to go to PBA unsold items will be returned Sunday near the close of the show. Checks will be mailed after the show.

We Need PBA Members to Volunteer!

Please consider helping us out during the show. PBA members can sign up for shifts here:
